In Threads, you untangle pieces of fabric and wind them onto spools of the same colour. The fabric falls from top to bottom, and you make sure the spools are positioned so that every thread ends up in the right colour. Every level gets harder, with more colours, a faster pace and trickier combinations, so you have to decide quickly and think ahead.
You place the spools with the mouse or your finger so that each piece of fabric lands on the spool of the same colour; if the colour matches, the fabric winds up on its own. A mistake makes the level harder.
